Music is a universal language. It breaks down communication barriers and brings us together in a harmonious, sometimes divine, realm of sound.
When we listen to the music we love, it makes us feel relaxed, happy, free, liberate.
It relieves stress, makes us more present to appreciate life, and provides a form of unrivaled escapism.
But can music go as far as to heal the body?
Well yes, actually.
Music is already used in a number of medical capacities; to soothe postoperative pain, lower blood pressure and boost immune system functionality.
Music is capable of re-balancing hormone activity, promoting healthier sleep cycles, releasing regenerative endorphins and simply giving us a greater sense of peace, which ultimately leads to faster healing.
Healing Music with a Biblical History
We already know that special types of music can be created to enhance healing and wellbeing, such as binaural beats. We also know that the knowledge around healing and music goes back thousands of years, well before the wonders of modern medicine.
But most people don't know that music healing has a Biblical link.
There is a list of ancient frequencies, said to be played by King David to heal and soothe King Saul during his time of depression. These ancient healing frequencies are still influential in music today.
Frequencies are all around us in nature and can be very powerful, like those made by your voice box to aid communication and express emotions and opinions.
From a Biblical perspective, these special 7 frequencies have the divine power to heal you.
You don't need to be a Christian to appreciate and benefit from these tones, though.
In fact, many modern day music producers still utilize these frequencies in their music to influence the feelings and sensations listeners feel.
I'm not a religious fellow, but I certainly appreciate great music; and of course my hobby is the study of music and sound and its ability to positively influence our lives.
Indeed, we should remember the wonderful music that has emerged from the Church: Gospel, Country, Blues, Soul, and many famous Hymns and Christmas songs.
The Story Behind Wholetones
The creator of WholeTones is Michael Tyrrell, a musician, author and speaker.
He discovered the ancient frequencies on a trip to Jerusalem, where he met a talented Christian piano player called David, who was performing Christian songs of worship in a Jewish Orthodox coffee house.
The short version of the story goes like this…
David told him that his life's work was to study the ancient psalms of King David in ancient Hebraic forms. David handed Michael the manuscript of many of these psalms.
When Michael looked at one of the manuscripts, he noticed the original manuscript was in a different key. It was said that King David tuned his instruments higher than what we know as the modern musical tuning system.
Looking in his Bible, he also found a reference to King David in on page 222. Call it divine intervention if you like, but something told him to double that page number and re-tune his guitar to 444 hertz.
Looking back at the manuscript, he discovered that most of these ancient healing frequencies were now right under his fingers.
He was convinced that God himself had passed these frequencies to King David, and then his friend David has given them to him.
A quick Google confirmed that these frequencies were well documented. Indeed many people were using them in different ways.
These frequencies are of course what we know to be the Ancient Solfeggio Scale.
And so ‘The Healing Frequency Music Project was born.

Does Wholetones Really Work?
Thousands of people over the years have attested to the power of these frequencies, including great composers like Mozart and philosophers like Plato. In the modern day many studies prove the healing benefits of music.
For example, a recent study from Harvard University has supported music’s ability to improve patient’s mental function after strokes, to improve balance and coordination in patients and to alleviate high heart rate and blood pressure in heart attack survivors.
Michael Tyrrell's (creator of WholeTones) mother was diagnosed with a critical condition 2005. When she went into hospital to undergo a 4-hour surgery, Michael brought his guitar to play for her the night before.
He began playing in the 741 Hz frequency and placed the headstock of the instrument on her side, approximately the location of her pain.
45 minutes into the operation, the Surgeon came out and announced that she had healed, that everything was clear. Whether you believe this or not, it has been 9 years and his mother is still well. There's a video of his mother describing this story here.

WholeTones, in Summary
I'm not religious, but as a music producer I value the Solfeggio Scale (frequencies) and the history that accompanies it. I think Michael has done a wonderful job with this music and I thoroughly enjoy listening.
There is plenty of science to back up the healing properties of music, as I have documented here on BBF many times.
Music is used as therapy in numerous ways in society, be it for relieving pain curing insomnia, helping with anger management and more.
The packages are good value too, especially when considering the artistry and work that has gone into the creative process.

are there any products, CD or otherwise, out on the market, that are tuned to 432 Hz?

Hi Deboragh, yes, have a look at the downloads sold here: https://www.mindvibrations.com/store/
Margaret May says
Michael Tyrrell died in October 2022 at the age of 62 after a two year battle with a health problem. If this information is accurate why didn’t this help him?
bbfreak says
People die every day of all sorts of things, but that shouldn’t stop us trying to be as healthy as we can; because science tells us that healthy living gives us a better chance of fighting off illness and disease and living longer. That said, one can be struck down cruelly with something unexpected, often hereditary.
Judy Lauziere says
Watch the YouTube video of Michael and his friend during the pandemic talking about wholetones. He actually states in this video that sometimes people “move on “after they have found their purpose and life. Getting this type of music therapy out to the world was his purpose.
bbfreak says
Wow, that’s deep. I haven’t seen that.
Maryanne says
Mike Tyrell,
Will you consider a set of acoustic CD’s. Upright string bass is so full and rich. I imagine acoustic guitar is closer in sound to King David’s harp. I would buy a second set of your CDs for use in my massage room. I do very quiet no beat music for lymph drainage therapy and cranial work. So far I’m unable to use your CDs in my business for the sound I need.
When I have massage lotion on my hands , changing CDs is not practical . I am still in old technology. Here’s a second idea. Can you produce an hour-long CD with the frequency to open the system and then a Target system like the lymph repeated to bring down inflammation? A set for the different systems would be user friendly for wellness marketing. Repackaging and a less rhythmic CD to include the system it targets would meet a niche purpose.
Your Lymph CD was so effective that I rushed to the bathroom twice during the CD, eliminating water retention. Thank you for all the research and work you put into this amazing project!!!
bergen says
have you tried these yourself?
what was your experience with them?
bbfreak says
Yes, I really like the music, it evokes very positive feelings.
Patricia Woods says
my understanding about the correct musical Hz is that music should be tuned to 432 Hz, not 440 or 444.
bbfreak says
A440 or A4 (also known as the Stuttgart pitch), which has a frequency of 440 Hz, is the musical note of A above middle C and serves as a general tuning standard for musical pitch. As musician and researcher Brian T. Collins notes, the standard pitch (A=440 Hz) does not harmonize on any level that corresponds to cosmic movement, rhythm, or natural vibration. The greatest musicians, such as Mozart and Verdi, based their music on the natural vibration of A=432.
Music tuned to 432 Hz is perceived as softer and brighter, giving greater clarity and is easier on the ears. Many people experience more meditative and relaxing states of body and mind when listening to such music. The natural musical pitch of the universe gives a more harmonic and pleasant sound than 440 Hz.
Mima says
Still not clear what the difference then between 432 or 444. DIfferent healer recommend either one to be good but still confused. Any thoughts on this?
bbfreak says
Your healer means that A is tuned to 444 Hz, which means C is at 528 Hz. 528 Hz is said to be the Love, or Miracle frequency. 432 Hz is an alternative tuning to our standard tuning of A=440 Hz. It is said to be more aligned with the universe and make music feel more fulfilling and relaxing, and stimulate our intuition, creativity and consciousness.

I purchased this offer with the understanding that if I did not want it or found it not for me, I would return it and received a refund.

Hi Mona, yes, that is what the policy says. I didn’t want to return mine but I’m sure you can.
