Hypnosis uses the power of suggestion to create profound change in the way we think and behave.
All self-limiting beliefs and the negative behaviors that stem from them arise as a result of past experiences. Hypnosis is able to reprogram these beliefs and create different emotional responses to the thoughts and situations we encounter.
So whether you're struggling with addiction, a specific phobia, low self-esteem, weight loss issues, or relationship issues or money problems, hypnosis can help.
I've been buying and using hypnosis downloads for many years now. In that time, I've tried numerous stores; some good, some not so good.
Over time I'm realized that there are two key components to good self-hypnosis:
- You need to connect with the narrator. It must be a voice that comforts you and resonates with your being.
- The quality of the audio needs to be of a professional standard. That means the voice recording and the backing track, if there is one.
The great thing about self-hypnosis downloads is that it is a far cheaper therapy than attending weekly sessions with a hypnotherapist. Those sessions can run you upwards of $50 a time, whereas you can buy a professional program online for less than $15.
In this review, I'll share my three top go-to store recommendations, and also introduce three new stores I found in the past year, each with a different focus in their offerings.
At the end, I'll also share my personal tips on how to get the most out your hypnosis audios.

6 Best Hypnosis Download Stores Online
1. Hypnosis Downloads
Hypnosis Downloads is a store I have used for many years. A number of my readers, who are therapists in various areas, also use them for scripts and courses for their clients.
The store has a huge catalogue, with a collection of over 1,250 audio programs.
If you're looking for an audio program that is quite specific or niche, you're more than likely going to find it here.
Hypnosis Downloads covers a broad range of areas including habits, phobias, addictions, and fears.
You'll find downloads for the following popular areas of hypnosis:
- Stress relief
- Stopping anxiety and panic attacks
- Overcoming fear
- Curing procrastination
- Improving self-confidence
- Helping with weight loss and healthy eating
- Dealing with grief and loss
- Pain relief
They also provide courses for stopping smoking and curing depression, and additional courses and scripts for those who want to learn hypnosis or create their own programs.
You can purchase the audios in both download and CD format.
The Creators
Hypnosis Downloads is the creation of popular hypnotherapists Mark Tyrrell HGDip, DipHypNLP (BHR), and Roger Elliott DHypPsych (UK).
The store falls under the Uncommon Knowledge brand, which also specializes in training and events.
The scripts are written by clinical hypnotherapists Joseph Kao and Rebekah Hall, and then narrated by Mark and Roger.
Mark has a soothing British accent, and Roger has a mild Scottish accent. Their voices are both engaging, which is exactly what you want. There is a fluidity in the way professional hypnotherapists deliver their sentences, and that's very apparent in the Hypnosis Downloads catalogue.
Best Things About Hypnosis Downloads

2. Self Hypnosis
I started using Self Hypnosis around 3 years ago but the store has been in business since 2002.
I've been massively impressed with the quality of their downloads, the helpful customer service, and all-round value on offer.
The sound design used on the tracks is excellent, as is the scripting. I'd go as far as to say that the store is on par with HypnosisDownloads.
The content covers a broad range of areas, including but not limited to the following:
- Addiction
- Career (goals, success, motivation, etc)
- Confidence & self-esteem
- Relaxation
- Learning
- Phobias & fears
- Habits & disorders
- Healthy mind
Self Hypnosis also cover a number of specific areas of health and vitality, including:
- Relationships
- Physical health
- Weight loss
- Sexual dysfunction
- Women's health
They also have the signature Super 7 Series. This series is a system that targets depression, confidence, anxiety, and weight loss. The idea is to use a different therapy session on each day of the week.
The Creators
The SelfHypnosis team is an experienced group comprising 6 professionals:
1. Barrie St John
Barrie is a professional hypnotherapist and counsellor and member of the U.K. Guild of Hypnotist Examiners. He is also a member of the American Board of Neuro Linguistic Programming.
Barrie's voice is British, with a slight northern edge, which gives it a uniquely warm and comforting feeling. It’s soothing and hypnotic to listen to.
2. Donna Lee
Donna is a certified hypnotherapist and counselor from New York. She counsels people aged 7 to 70+.
Donna has a US accent, which, being British, I love. It's funny how Americans tend to love the British accent, and vice versa. Her voice is tender and warm and has that whispering quality to it (somewhat AMSR).
3. Timothy Rowe
Timothy is a therapist, meditation teacher and awareness facilitator of 25 years.
He has a typical British accent, like one you might expect from someone presenting a documentary. It's very engaging, clear, and fluid.
4. Deborah Dewey
Deborah is a clinical hypnotherapist and Detox specialist from the UK.
Deborah has a British accent with a mysterious tinge. It has a spiritual edge to it that is perfect for relaxation and deeper consciousness.
5. Alan Davidson (lead script writer): a vastly experienced hypnotherapist and highly respected educator of 25 years.
6. Terence Watts: a professional hypnotherapist of 30 years who has authored 27 books and developed several training courses.
Alan and Terence solely write scripts, along with Barrie, too.

3. HypTalk
Victoria Gallagher's Hyptalk became hugely popular in the early 200o's after it was featured on a couple of health-related TV programs.
The branding is very much focused on self-development, think law of attraction, abundance, and success.
This extends beyond downloads too, with seminars held all over the world, including one I attended in London a couple of years back.
With over 500 downloads to choose from, the store focuses on the following key areas:
- Law of attraction
- Love & relationships
- Money & prosperity
- Healthy eating habits
- Athletic improvement
- Relaxation & sleep
- Meditation
- Communication skills
The Creator
Victoria Gallagher has built a solid reputation over the years. Her work has attracted praise from the likes of Oprah and Dr. Phil.
A Graduate of The American Academy of Hypnosis, in Las Vegas, and a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists, Victoria has studied metaphysical and personal growth concepts since 1986.
A testament to her talent, she has used the power of hypnosis on herself to overcome a fear of needles and to quit smoking.
Victoria's voice is perhaps the stereotypical American voice you'd associate with commercial hypnosis; something you'd hear on TV.
I enjoy the richness and assertiveness of Victoria's tone. It makes you feel confident and has this air of positivity and opportunity about it.
Best Things About Hyptalk:
- Professionally voiced by a very experienced practitioner.
- Plenty of focus on self-improvement (LOA)
- Over 500 downloads to choose from.
- Hypnosis videos and scripts also available.
- Free self-hypnosis course available for new customers.
- Free shipping on orders over $100.

4. ehypnosis
I was introduced to ehypnosis by one of my readers. They asked me if I'd listened to Steve Jones' hypnotherapy recordings. I hadn't and was intrigued, and then pleasantly surprised when I did.
ehypnosis is very modern and somewhat slicker than some of the older stores. It has a streamlined user experience that makes things easy to find, and an upgrade system that lets you choose from a number of packages to suit your requirements (see below).
They have 250 tracks to choose from, covering 4 core categories, as follows:
- Health and wellbeing
- Personal development
- Mental skills
- Love and relationships
They also have sub sections for phobias and addictions, mental health, success, etc.
When you buy a track there are three upgrade options to choose from:
- The Standard Version: A 30-minute session.
- The Advanced Version: A 60-minute session with 4 additions designed to make the process more effective.
- The Complete Version: Standard and Advanced, plus an affirmations version.
The add-ons available for advanced and complete are as follows:
- Binaural beats: Relaxing frequencies mixed into the music.
- Stereo Imaging: An advanced 3D sound experience for a more hypnotic experience.
- Future pacing: A form of NLP (neurolinguistic programming) that takes your mind into the future to learn how to cope with specific problems.
- Analog marking: advanced commands that impact the subconscious mind.
The Creator
As mentioned previously, the voice behind the recordings is Dr. Steve G Jones.
Steve G. Jones is an American clinical hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner of 15+ years, based in Savannah, Georgia.
He is the author of many publications on hypnosis, self-awareness and the law of attraction. Notably, he co-authored the book ‘You Can Attract It' with Frank Mangano.
I like Steve's voice. It's soothing and the way the sessions are recorded makes his voice sound deep and spacious (good use of reverb. There's one particular track I like called ‘Boost Your Energy'.
It uses seashore ambience as the backing track, with his voice is almost merging with the waves, which really takes you into the zone. It is very well done.
Best Things About ehypnosis
- Voiced by world-renowned hypnotherapist Steve G Jones.
- Good selection of add-ons for those into binaural beats and affirmations.
- Option of 3D sound.
- Good quality recordings. Very well voiced.
- Advanced NLP methods for increased receptivity.
- 14-day money back guarantee.

5. Hypnosis Live
This is a store I discovered last year. I jumped in and purchased a couple of audios around money mindset and mental sharpness. It was a tough year for me in that regard!
Hypnosis Live has a strong leaning towards the area of money and success and manifestation in general. And that makes sense due to the background of the author (see the next section).
There's 200 downloads to choose from across 9 key categories:
- Self Growth
- Mental skills
- Mindset
- Emotions
- Fear, worry, & anxiety
- Health
- Sexuality
- Body improvement
- Personal improvement
The audios are approximately 40 minutes long and discounts are available on bundles. You'll note that there's always deals going on and lots of marketing initiatives, so stay on your toes for the best offers, which usually arrive by email.
The Creator
The downloads are voiced by Julie-Ann Amos, a qualified hypnotherapist and master NLP practitioner, and author.
Julie-Ann comes from a management consultancy background and specializes in conversational hypnosis, which she used for many years in negotiations in the corporate world.
Julie-Ann's voice is very British, which most will find pleasant to listen to. It's quite neutral in tone and some might say not as tonal as the aforementioned authors, which some may prefer.
Best Things About Hypnosis Live
- Over 200 downloads to choose from.
- Voiced by a professional NLP practitioner and hypnotist.
- Always has special deals on!
- 14-day money-back guarantee.
I wouldn't say the recording quality on these audios is as good as the first three stores in the list. This store is a little cheaper, though, and to me that is reflected in the audio quality. That said, I'm an audiophile, so I tend to have higher standards than most and notice a drop in quality that others might not.

6. Self Hypnosis Audios
Last but certainly not least on my list of top recommendations is SelfHypnosisAudios, run by Sue Rowland, an accredited hypnotherapy professional of over 23 years.
SHA has a smaller catalogue than the other stores on this list, but makes up for that by providing very comprehensive programs.
I've had the pleasure of speaking with Sue and she really is passionate about her clients and helping people overcome problems through hypnosis.
The Creator
Sue is a member of The National Council for Hypnotherapy, The Hypnotherapy Society and a Senior Member of the General Hypnotherapy Register GHR.
In a bid to reach people on a global scale, Sue launched her series of self-hypnosis programs based on tried and tested methods she has used with her clients over many years.
Sue gave me a copy of the Anxiety program to try and I was very impressed (I've suffered for years). The program came with 5 audios, one for each week over a period of 4 weeks, and a Calm Anchor audio dedicated to relaxation.
Sue's programs are comprehensive and detailed; in some cases providing up to 6 audios to listen to over a scheduled period of time. The programs drill down on the specific issue at hand using different audio sessions with alternative scripting.
Sue's voice is really soothing. The audios are professionally delivered in the fluid way you'd expect from an experienced practitioner.
The Programs
The audio programs cover the following areas:
- Addiction
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Sleep problems
- Health
- Confidence
- Fears
- Habits
- Self esteem
Best Things About Selfhypnosisaudios
Having spoken with Sue I can tell she really cares about her craft, and about her clients benefitting from her work. You can tell a lot of work has gone into the creation of the audios and the listening experience is very pleasurable.
For me, the anxiety program works just as it should, providing genuine peace of heart and mind and a release of symptoms well before a session has ended.
I always feel good about supporting independent practitioners like Sue who have a passion for helping others get over their problems through natural therapies.
Tip: You can use the code coupon10 in the checkout to get a 10% discount on any of Sue's programs.

My Top Tips for Self-Hypnosis
So there you have it! Take your pick from those six hypnosis downloads stores.
The first two (HD and SH) on the list have been my go-to stores for a number of years. The third (HT) I still use but haven't bought any new audios for a while, and the others are recent discoveries I like and will no doubt use more going forward.
You won't be disappointed either way, as the quality of the backing tracks, the scripting, and the voicing is all of a professional standard and produced by qualified hypnotherapists and NLP professionals.
Now, once you have downloaded your audio, there are some best practices you should try to follow. Here's a few tips I've learned over the years.
Tip 1: Find a Place Free of Distraction
There's no point in listening to a session when your mind is being pulled in different directions by things in your immediate environment.
Best practice is to turn off the TV, put your phone on silent, and tell anyone who is likely to disturb you that you'll be unavailable for a while. It's a good idea to put your phone in another room, because if you're anything like me then just its presence is distracting.
You don't need to use headphones but I think it is best to; because that way you'll block out external noise in your home and outside noise like traffic.
To get the most out of your session, you want to immerse yourself in the program completely.
Tip 2: Sit or Lie Down
If you were in the therapy room of a hypnotherapist, you'd most likely be lying on the couch or seated in a chair, so find a comfortable spot in your home to listen in.
This might be on your sofa in the front room, or in the garden on a sun lounger.
Try to avoid lying on your bed, though, as you might fall asleep. You need to be in state of deep relaxation but not asleep.
Tip 3: Stay Committed
Lastly, bear in mind that hypnosis is a holistic approach to fixing a problem, and most likely one you've had for some time.
Perhaps you are trying to overcome issues of anxiety, insomnia, lack of confidence, fear, a phobia or addiction. It is possible to do, but know that this isn't an instant fix.
It isn't like taking a pill and instantly relieving a headache; you need to make a commitment to a regular listening schedule and give the process time to work.
Like everything in life, consistency is key. Commit to listening each day and you will see results. Just listening once every now and again will not produce the results you desire.
Any kind of training in life, be that mental or physical, requires commitment and repetition, even when we don't feel like practicing.
It is like exercise: The majority of us do not feel like going for a run when we get home from work, but we know that doing so consistently three times a week will result in much better fitness, sustainable weight loss, better eating habits and elevated mood.
It's the same thing with any kind of therapy: To get results, you must make a commitment to consistency over a period of a couple of weeks, at least.
In Summary
Self hypnosis is an affordable self-development and improvement tool. Research shows it can work for most people, particularly in areas such as sleep and depression.
It may not work for everyone, but you can only but try. Do give it a fair shot though. I recommend a minimum of two weeks consistent use before evaluating how you feel.
The great thing about self-hypnosis is that it can be done from the comfort of your own home, out in the park, on a plane and basically wherever you can find a quiet space and slip on some headphones or listen through a CD player.
The entry point versus paying for hypnosis sessions, which can be 50- 100+ USD per session, makes this type of hypnosis accessible for everyone.
Lastly, I'd like to say that as always, this is my honest opinion, based on my experience. Unlike reviews you'll find on other websites, I only write about the products I've actually used.
Additionally, I wouldn't review a hypnosis download store I dislike because I wouldn't want to be negative towards anyone's business. However, what I do personally use I endeavor to give a fair appraisal of the pros and cons.
I hope you've found this information useful.
If you have a question about a specific company on the list, or an issue that you are struggling with and want to know if this form of therapy can help, feel free to leave a comment below.

Why don’t you use Hyptalk any more? Thank you
bbfreak says
Hi Alina, I still use the audios I just haven’t bought anything in a while. I tend to rotate, so I will probably go back in the New Year and see what new tracks Victoria has available. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Returnedfromthegrave says
Personally, I like HypnoTalk the best right now. I have personally noticed it has actual reviews connected to the relevant products. It gives me comfort to know which programs are being raved about by actual customers, what they’re saying, and be able to read about the results of their time and money invested. After visiting the recommendations: 1 and 2 don’t seem to have that; at best their reviews seem to be cherry picked and dropped off in random places.
I’ve used to Glenn Harrold recordings, but I realized he is focused on healing trauma and other mystical categories, whereas I need something for taking a business from 0-100. Basically I’ve been looking for an effective program to “take the emergency brakes off” all the self-sabotage (consistent marketing, excellence in sales & negotiation).
There is a local hypnotherapist in my area that has stellar google reviews indicating positive results achieved, as opposed to merely “feel good” or “excited” reviews without indication of results. I may decide to see the local therapist even though it costs more.

Mel says
Hi there, this is so amazing. Thanks so much. You are so wonderful to do this. I am sure you are helping a lot of people out there. You are definitely helping me!
I was skeptical about hypnosis at the start but I needed to do something to get my life in order so I went and saw a hypnotherapist as I was binge drinking. I had 3 sessions with him and wow it has worked for me. But it was expensive.
I have other issues I want to resolve using hypnosis but I can’t afford to pay for face to face sessions again. I have been reading reviews about “hypnosis downloads uncommon knowledge” and are thinking to use them.
I have issues with obsessive thinking. I worry lot about all sorts of things. And I have these thoughts on repeat. They become a vicious cycle of repetitive thoughts to the point where I don’t feel I’m present or if it’s at night I can’t sleep. It can be about anything but once I fixated on that thought it just keeps going on and on and won’t stop. No matter how many times I tell myself to stop it. Sometimes I even ask myself questions like “can you change what will happen” in the hope that the thought will stop but it doesn’t!
It can be as simple as making sure I pick up something from the shop before it closes the next day or it can be more extreme thoughts like jealousy. My jealousy does not even have to be about my partner cheating or jealousy about the other gender, sometimes it’s jealousy about his life and how it’s better than mine “comparing”, sometimes it’s jealousy that he has a lot more friends then me, sometimes it’s jealousy then he wants to spend time with others and not me. I feel so stupid and silly to be sharing this but I wanted to tell somebody. Sometimes it could be me overthinking the situation for e.g. he said he was going to play mixed gender doubles tennis and now I can’t stop thinking about which females will be there. I trust he won’t do anything. He has done nothing for me to not trust him. It’s just my obsessive thoughts. I want to stop these thoughts as it causes me anxiety and does cause me to argue with him for no reason.
I am so sorry for the long spill. I really needed to let it out. If you have suggestions on which audios I should get from “uncommon knowledge” I would really appreciate it.
Thanks so much again!
bbfreak says
Hi Mel,
Don’t feel silly for sharing. A problem shared is a problem halved as they say 🙂
I’m an over-thinker too, and it affected my sleep a lot in my 20s, and still does occasionally from time to time if there’s a big event going on in my life. The thought cycles you get trapped in are, in my opinion, an expression of anxiety.
They have the Obsessive Thoughts session. See that here. And that is part of the 10 Steps to Overcome Insecurity in Relationships session. See that here.
It’s interesting that they have put that individual session in the course, because you mentioned both these things (the obsessive thinking and relationship insecurity) so they obviously see them as linked, which means hopefully you can tackle both issues together.
Best of luck! Let me know how you get on.
Mel says
Thank you so so much. I feel a sense of relief already just having shared this with you. It helped me sleep lastnight just typing that out to you. I will look at getting those audios you suggested. You are a wonderful person! Thank you for being so helpful!
Rachel says
Hi I just read your reviews, thank you so much for doing this research for us. My main goal is weight loss plain and simple. I am interested in the 10 pack from hypnosis downloads and the Super 7 series from self hypnosis and wondering if you would recommend one over the other. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
bbfreak says
Both are very good stores and used regularly by my readers. The Hypnosis Downloads store is better value because it has 10 programs in one, and they have 50% off I see, making it around $12 cheaper on the download version. It’s not a huge difference but depends on your budget. I haven’t done this specific program so can’t really say which is better, but the HD one looks a little more complete. That said, the 7 step program by Self Hypnosis is one for each day of the week, which I could see working nicely. Let me know which you go for.
Rachel says
Thank you so much for your quick reply. My initial thought was the Super 7 Series because it looked, on the surface, like it dealt with a lot of the psychological reasons why people overeat and the 10 pack didn’t. However, I went back in and read further details on the 10 pack and agree that this one sounds like the better deal so that is what I am going to try.
bbfreak says
I’m glad I was able to help you make a choice. Let me know how you get on. All the best.
David says
Hello, I have major fear of Doctors and medical procedures, I’m 63 and have had some surgery’s but my blood pressure goes thru the roof and have panic attacks just going, can’t even concentrate on what they are saying, I know I have some issues and need to be seen by a doctor for test but cannot get myself there, I tried one hypnosis session but didn’t make a difference and I really can afford the in office cost, can you recommend something great for me please, thx much
bbfreak says
You would need to do more than one session and probably do them regularly for a while. I’d advise doing a session prior to your appointments, so that your mind is prepared.
Have a look at this pack here. It contains two recordings designed to overcome fear of doctors and hospitals.
Jac says
Do you prefer hypnosisdownload’s or selfhypnosis products? Hypnosisdownload doesn’t use background music, but selfhypnosis does. Which is more effective?
bbfreak says
Difficult to choose. I use both. Sometimes I prefer the HypnosisDownloads because the absence of music makes it feels more like you are in the room with the hypnotist. However, my house isn’t always quiet so having the music from SelfHypnosis helps to drown out the background noise. The Anxiety downloads from HD are really good.
Jac says
So from your personal experience, those hypnosis downloads could really help you change (to be better in whatever way). Something that you can’t do with willpower, conscious mind effort so on… ?
bbfreak says
Well, for me it’s about reinforcing positive beliefs and habits. Over the years we pick up all sorts of self-limiting beliefs that cause emotional blockages and negative behaviors, and there are so many daily influences that can steer us off course. Whether it’s a self-hypnosis, subliminal messaging, or reading a motivational book, these are all tools that help me re-center and remain in the frame of mind most conducive to being present, content and productive.
Ray says
Hi bbfreak, for Hypnosis Downloads you said “Register for a free account for freebies and discounts.” but I haven’t seen any discount since I registered as a member. When do they usually have discounts? (I have a lot to purchase!)
bbfreak says
Hi Ray, they usually have a sale once in while, but lately they have had the multiple singles deal: If you add a product to the cart you will see it. You can add a second and save $6.95, or a third and save $14.90. The savings get bigger as you add more to the cart.
ozan says
Is this tracks put you into a real hypnosis or do you have to hypnotize yourself first?
bbfreak says
Yes. You listen through headphones while relaxing and the voice takes you into hypnosis.
Lee Worton says
I have bought several recordings from Hyptalk. They are quite good. Valerie Dawson has a very soothing voice also. I like that her recordings are usually around 30 minutes or so with an easy to follow guided imagery.
I don’t like real long hypnosis recordings where you really have to strain to follow the guided imagery. I usually don’t even finish them because they give me an actual headache. I also like Dr. Laura De Giorgio of DeepTranceNow and I have several of her recordings too.
I do like recordings with Theta waves because they really help me relax.
I will check out the other 2 stores you mentioned.
Thanks for sharing this.
Angela Blount says
What do you think of Paul Clinton to self hypnosis downloads? Please reply.
bbfreak says
Hi Angela, I haven’t tried his tracks but I just had a look at the site. It looks like hypnosis that uses Theta binaural beats under the track for increased relaxation. I’m not sure how much this would contribute to helping to induce hypnosis, which happens “when the analytical left-hand side of the brain is turned off, while the non-analytical right-hand side is made more alert. The conscious control of the mind is inhibited, and the subconscious mind awoken.” I will try and get around to trying some of these.
